Salvage & Forge is a documentary series.

 

Each episode follows a thread. A piece. A trade. A place. 

The world has been automating, outsourcing and forgetting for years. Salvage & Forge goes looking for what's left. The forge yards and reclamation sites. The farm sheds and workshop back rooms. The auction houses where a room full of people bid on things not named correctly or photographed very well.

Objects carry history the way people do. A Victorian factory lamp. A set of hand-forged tools still in the original roll. A factory sign pulled from a building that doesn't exist anymore. These things end up in skips, in barn clearances, in the back of a van (ours sometimes) and occasionally, if someone's paying attention, somewhere better.

​

The craftspeople are part of the same story. The people who keep showing up, long after it stopped making financial sense, because the alternative was letting something real go dark. The blacksmiths and knife sharpeners, the coopers and farriers, the restorers working out of units and laneways and outbuildings, doing work that can't be AI generated.

​

No scripts. No recreations. (We can't afford these things anyway) A camera, a conversation, whatever's in the room. Iron and leather and old timber. The stories that live in the work itself. 

​

Rooted in Ireland but covering the globe.

Fez, Morocco. Rural Japan. The American Midwest. The English countryside. Different cultures, different materials, different languages. The same hands. The same stubbornness. The same quiet refusal.

This is what's left. And it's worth more than most people know.
